The Customer & Data Enablement Practice have strategic ownership and drive digital transformation in the broad and exciting realm of Customer Engagement. We currently have a need for a Business Intelligence Engineer to join this practice who will explore available data, apply analytical and data mining techniques to uncover actionable insights and answer business questions informing how the bank can best serve our customers.

Reporting into the Data Insights Service Owner you’ll design and develop front-end dashboards and visualisations, providing high quality reports and insights to business stakeholders in an efficient manner. As a SME you’ll work closely with Technical Business Analysts and be supported by the Data Insights Centre of Excellence to understand functional and technical requirements, working on a broad variety of Business Intelligence initiatives and topics.

Your extensive background as a Business Intelligence Analyst or Developer focused on PowerBI, Python, R and SAS can be combined in a role where your ideas and input are valued. You’ll be given ownership to challenge the status quo and be part of our technology transformation from on-prem to Cloud based solutions.

As the Business Intelligence Engineer you will:

  • Design and develop front-end dashboards and visualisations that are engaging and in consideration of user experience Leverage creative solutions, analytics, and visualisation/reporting techniques to enhance knowledge
  • Solve business problems and uncover actionable insights by applying analysis techniques, data mining, and modelling
  • Develop front-end solutions based on business aligned data architecture that is transparent
  • Leverage automation for reporting to enable self-service analytics by stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with other business units on analytical challenges
  • Investigate and integrate external data that can be used to add value to Business Intelligence solutions
  • Promote innovation and thought generation around different approaches to Business Intelligence challenges
  • Focus on customers’ needs to drive behaviours and outcomes
  • Work closely with Practice Leads, Service Owners and Delivery owners to coordinate effort and manage dependencies for business outcomes
  • Be able to articulate the insights that are uncovered from analysis to the business


To be successful in the role, you'll have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in business, analytics, IT or similar
  • Previous experience in a role focused on Business Intelligence
  • Proven capabilities to adapt analytical insight to effectively communicate findings appropriate for the audience
  • An outcome driven mentality, with a persistent focus on leveraging technology to drive customer and business value
  • A creative problem-solving approach combined with a positive mindset, be adaptable to change and have passion for what you do
  • Strong experience in leverage relationships to influence without authority
  • Knowledge of the report development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience in developing front-end dashboards and visualisation solutions
  • Database query experience such as SQL Server, Oracle and NoSQL
  • Experience with visualisation and analysis tools such as PowerBI, Python, R and SAS
  • Experience with AWS/Amazon products will be highly regarded
  • Previous experience operating in an agile environment
