Corporate Affairs focus on engaging with industry and government, sharing unique insights and knowledge, influencing policy development and public debate. As well as harnessing the collective power of the network through government relations, industry relations, public policy development, advocacy, and engagement, and thought leadership.

We currently have an opportunity for an Government and Industry Analyst to join the team, reporting into the Head of Corporate Affairs. This role will focus on engaging with government and industry, while supporting and coordinating our employees as they collaborate with these key stakeholders.

No two days will be the same as you coordinate the bank’s approach and contribution to government and industry discussions on a range of present and emerging issues and initiatives, as well as liaising with the bank’s major corporate partners. Immersed in an issues rich environment you’ll apply your inquisitive nature to gather data and information to shape and develop briefings for senior leaders.

This role can be based in any of our main office locations: Adelaide, Bendigo, Melbourne, or Sydney, for the days that you are in the office, and then other days you’ll be working from home to help better balance your life and work.

 

As the Government and Industry Analyst you will:

  • Coordinate the Bank’s approach and contribution to government and industry discussions on a range of present and emerging issues and initiatives
  • Implement agreed government, regulatory, or industry work programs
  • Forge strong relationships with key government stakeholders and industry partners
  • Liaise extensively with bank representatives to monitor government and industry agreed work programs and investigative forums
  • Develop and maintain relationships so that the bank is appropriately represented and actively participating with agreed government and industry working groups and forums
  • Research specific issues or change agendas to understand and articulate impacts on the Bank and considerations for advocacy back within the government and industry consultation process
  • Assist with written communication for target audiences which summarises current and future government and industry issues, impacts, and change agendas

 

To be successful in the role, you'll have:

  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline such as Public Policy, Public Relations, Communications, or Business
  • Prior experience in banking, corporate affairs, government, or communications fields highly desirable
  • Good comprehension of the banking environment, operations, and regulation
  • Demonstrated capabilities in planning and coordinating working groups and advocacy campaigns
  • The ability to analyse and understand research and effectively communicate relevant insights and findings
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, able to problem solve, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
  • Outstanding interpersonal, relationship building, and presentation skills to easily build and maintain relationships both internally and externally at all levels
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • An understanding and genuine interest in politics, industry affairs, and decision-making processes
