“It begins at Bendigo Bank”

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the opportunity

Joining our Cloud Platforms & DevOps Enablement team, you’ll work closely with the team focused on all things DevOps at the Bank. This role has a focus on technical design as well as leading our DevOps engineers from a technical perspective.

Our model is cloud first, we’re modernising and simplifying. You’ll get the opportunity to work on the latest technologies and have access to continual learning and development opportunities.

If you enjoy designing and building great technology whilst collaborating and leading others, our community is a place you’ll thrive.

In this role you’ll get to…

  • Provide technical leadership to a team of engineers with a focus on building platforms as products.
  • Help build a mature development lifecycle, with automation for repeatable processes to enable the consumers of services to be agile and deliver faster.
  • Assist with the design, implementation, operation and continuous improvement of developer experience tooling at the bank.
  • Ensure that components that make up our developer tooling and managed services stack are well maintained, available, reliable, and delivered in accordance with business expectations, technology standards and within agreed SLAs.
  • Mentor others and develop technical talent.
  • Encourage a proactive approach towards delivery within an agile team following lean principals.

What you’ll bring to the role

You're a lead engineer who wants to stay close to tech whilst providing technical leadership to a team. You'll challenge ideas so that we can build the best possible solution.

To be successful in the role you will have

  • Thorough understanding of Cloud Infrastructure, Kubernetes (EKS & GKE particularly), CI/CD tools (such as Gitlab & Artifactory) and restful APIs.
  • Experienced in planning, designing, implementation and support of developer platforms, Kubernetes managed services, and developer experience tooling.
  • You’ll have the ability to work with various stakeholders, have a positive mindset, and you can adapt to change and lead others with confidence.

So, why work with us?

  • Want big impact that matters? Here, you’ll know your work directly benefits the customers and communities we all serve.
  • Want to be more than just a number? Join a team that truly values you – and that gets more and more diverse every day.
  • Want career opportunity AND flexibility? Achieve both here, where we know that balance and progression go hand in hand.

You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:

This role can be based in any of our head offices in Melbourne, Bendigo, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide. We prioritise our people with a hybrid model that includes a minimum of two days per week in the office.
