Consumer Banking Risk is a centre of expertise for risk management across the whole of the Consumer Banking Division and provides strategy, risk appetite, governance, policy and framework support to the businesses within Consumer Banking to drive sound risk management practice. This includes providing guidance, assistance and support to relevant Board & Board/Management Committee members, Senior Management, internal and external stakeholders and providing leadership to enhance the further development of a strong risk culture across Consumer Banking.

About the role

As Operational Risk Manager and reporting to Senior Manager Risk and Compliance you are responsible for key functions in relation to the implementation and management of the risk and compliance framework specifically within Wealth.

Key responsibilities include

• Perform all activities required for embedding and management of the Operational Risk Management Framework
• Report and escalate any breaches of risk and recommend areas for improvement
• Ensure department registers are updated in relation to findings
• Produce papers for and provide input into the Divisional Operational Risk Committee Meeting
• Facilitate and/or participate in the review of treatment plans, scenario analysis, root cause analysis and control validations.
• Proactively promote a strong risk culture (through education, support and awareness)

About you

To be successful you will have

• Tertiary qualifications in Risk Management or Business-related fields highly desirable.
• Operational Risk experience in Banking and Financial Services Industry (Line 1 or 2 risk roles)
• Strong understanding and practical working knowledge of Operational Risk Frameworks 
• Sound understanding of wealth products i.e. superannuation, managed funds and margin lending ideal
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with highly developed influencing skills
• Strong collaboration and relationship management to deliver on organisational outcomes.
• Proven ability to manage multiple and complex tasks and meet deadlines
