About us

With more than 160 years of history, we are proud of our position in the community with more satisfied customers than any other Australian bank.  Every day, we work hard to bring our company purpose to life, feeding into the success of our customers and communities and not off it.

We're more than just a bank with banking products. We change the lives of customers and communities. Commercial actions with heart!

Our time is now. We are challenging the status quo and we're excited about our future!

About the role

Risk Analytical Systems manage the SAS solutions on behalf of the modelling and analytical community.  These solutions are utilised for the development and deployment of statistical models, together with the calculation of Risk Weighted Assets for Regulatory Reporting.

You will support the ongoing operations of the SAS solutions, primarily using the SAS software component – SAS Data Integration Studio.  This is the main ETL (Extraction Transform Load) tool utilised for the sourcing and loading of data for the purposes of deploying statistical models and reporting, but other ETL or Analytical software may also be utilised.

Some of the role responsibilities are:

  • Design and develop ETL solutions that meet stakeholder requirements. Including working collaboratively with other business units on analytical challenges or triage of ETL issues. And promote innovation and thought generation around different approaches to ETL development
  • Solve business problems and uncover actionable insights by applying analysis techniques. And be able to articulate solutions and associated analysis to the business
  • Design and develop Reporting solutions based on business aligned data architecture
  • Create and maintain meaningful documentation that promotes transparency and agility of change
  • Build and maintain the core champion Credit Risk Models. And maintain and extend the data marts used to support modelling and reporting and align this to any overarching data strategy
  • Support Data Developers and Business Analysts in their usage of SAS and associated functionality. And contribute to the future usage of ETL software in Credit Risk Models and future migration to Cloud

About you

Ideally you will have some experience of SAS - including Enterprise Guide, Data Integration Studio or Base SAS. And have data analysis/profiling skills to support the ability to report findings to business colleagues, and to ensure solutions are fit for purpose.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Knowledge in data querying and analysis utilising a standard query language such as SQL
  • Knowledge in the use of a structured programming language for data manipulation and reporting – ideally Base SAS
  • Macro programming skills – ideally SAS macro
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing principles including data repositories, schemas and data layering
  • Ability to design, write and structure code to a production standard
  • Ability to develop technical requirements as outlined by business requirements
  • A strong focus on quality assurance to ensure deliverables are comprehensibly tested and to a high standard
