This important work is delivered by our Culture Engagement team who manage activities to support the evolution of our culture, including risk culture. By designing and delivering key interventions this function helps us realise our cultural aspirations and group goals, as well as meeting our regulatory obligations.

We have a new permanent opportunity for Senior Consultant - Culture & Behavioural Risk to support on-going work in this space that uniquely combines People & Culture initiatives with Risk Culture management. Through the development of organisation-wide culture interventions and employee experience measurement you’ll provide the foundations for change and help shape the future of this space here at the bank.

With genuine access to key decision makers at a board and executive level you’ll be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing sustainable strategies and solutions that enable our culture aspirations. Your strong data and analytics skills, risk culture background, and expert consulting and stakeholder management skills can be combined in a role where your ideas and input are valued. You’ll be given ownership to challenge the status quo and influence change across the enterprise.

This role can be based in any of our main office locations: Adelaide, Bendigo, Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne - as required, in a hybrid approach, some days you’ll be in the office, and then other days you’ll be working from home to help better balance your life and work.

 

As the Senior Consultant - Culture & Behavioural Risk you will:

  • Use a data-driven and evidence-based approach to identify, develop, and deliver appropriate, relevant, and flexible risk culture strategies and solutions to enable our risk culture aspirations
  • Deliver psychological or behavioural assessments and surveys
  • Conducting root cause analysis and deep dives investigations on culture to mitigate behavioural risks
  • Develop non-financial risk and compliance policies and deliver learning and communications
  • Map change impacts, develop change plans and work with key stakeholders to ensure that change is effectively deployed
  • Leverage strong relationships with organisational stakeholders, Risk Business Partners, Assurance team, and P&C Business Partners to build momentum and deliver agreed outcomes
  • Identify issues and proactively manage risks, and be responsible for governance expectations including reporting
  • Use project delivery disciplines (integration, scope, time, cost, quality, people, communications, and risk) to achieve the highest level of business success and uptake
  • Measure and evidence how the bank’s culture is evolving over time
  • Use (data) visualisation techniques to generate and engage an audience
  • Generate value to the business by using insight to prove or disprove hypothesis. Challenge existing thinking and offer ideas for new projects and development areas
  • Work in an agile framework to deliver insights

 

 

To be successful in the role, you'll have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in Organisational Psychology or similar (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrated experience within a financial services or professional environment with sound knowledge of risk management, psychology and human behaviour, or internal audit
  • Knowledge of culture, conduct, and compliance requirements and regulation (eg ASIC, APRA) in banking
  • Technical understanding of the control environment, with ability to build and implement behavioural solutions
  • Proven capabilities and thorough exposure to project management, as well as change management methods and techniques
  • Previous experience working on a cultural change programs; ideally for a control function such as conduct, compliance, financial crime, or risk
  • Experience managing stakeholders with the ability to influence and work with senior business leaders to execute and implement risk culture interventions to drive change
  • An understanding of regulatory cultural expectations and good knowledge of risk frameworks associated with the banking industry
  • Strong data analysis (quantitative and qualitative techniques) and insights interpretation, ideally with proficiency in the use of statistical analysis programs
  • Ability to facilitate groups and conduct focus groups with a variety of employee groups
  • Demonstrated knowledge in assessing the risk maturity and culture of a business
  • Experience with Behaviour / Culture related root cause assessments
  • Extensive skills in designing culture interventions that incorporate up to date psychology theory, contemporary technology, and on-the-job development
  • The ability to interpret and define culture measures and KPI’s to analyse the impact of culture program of work
  • An advanced ability to think critically, analytically, and strategically
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating remotely where needed
