This important work is delivered by our Culture Engagement team who manage activities to support the evolution of our culture, including risk culture. By designing and delivering key interventions this function helps us realise our cultural aspirations and group goals, as well as meeting our regulatory obligations.

We have a 12-month fixed term opportunity for a Senior Manager Risk Culture to support on-going work in this space that uniquely combines People & Culture initiatives with Risk Culture management. Through the development of organisation-wide culture interventions and employee experience measurement you’ll provide the foundations for change and help shape the future of this space here at the bank.

With genuine access to key decision makers at a board and executive level you’ll be responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing sustainable strategies and solutions that enable our risk culture aspirations. Your extensive organisational development experience, strong program management background, and expert consulting and stakeholder management skills can be combined in a role where your ideas and input are valued. You’ll be given ownership to challenge the status quo and influence change across the enterprise.

Ideally this role will be based in one of our main office locations in Melbourne, Bendigo, or Adelaide for the days that the team are in the office together, and then other days you’ll be working from home to help better balance your life and work. We’re also open to people working remotely and will consider applicants based anywhere in Australia.


As the Senior Manager Risk Culture you will:

  • Identify, develop, and deliver appropriate, relevant and flexible risk culture strategies and solutions to enable our risk culture aspirations
  • Leverage strong relationships with organisational stakeholders, Risk Business Partners, Assurance team, and P&C Business Partners to build momentum and deliver agreed outcomes
  • Identify issues and proactively manage risks, and be responsible for governance expectations including reporting
  • Support and educate teams on how they can embed healthy risk behaviours
  • Deliver strategies and tools to embed risk and control thinking across embedded risk
  • Measure and evidence how the bank’s culture is evolving over time
  • Conduct root cause analysis and deep dive investigations on risk culture to mitigate behavioural risks
  • Map change impacts, develop change plans, and work with key stakeholders to effectively deploy change
  • Develop constructive working relationships with Risk and People & Culture colleagues to integrate risk culture across the employee lifecycle


To be successful in the role, you'll have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree in Organisational Psychology or similar (preferred but not essential)
  • Demonstrated experience within a financial services or professional environment with sound knowledge of risk management, psychology and human behaviour, or internal audit
  • Proven capabilities and thorough exposure to project management, as well as change management methods and techniques
  • Previous experience working on a cultural change programs; ideally for a control function such as conduct, compliance, financial crime, or risk
  • Expert stakeholder management with the ability to influence and work with senior business leaders to execute and implement risk culture interventions to drive change
  • An understanding of regulatory cultural expectations and good knowledge of risk frameworks associated with the banking industry
  • Strong analytical, data-driven, evidence based approach to measuring and how the bank’s culture is evolving over time
  • The ability to facilitate and manage a variety of group dynamics 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in assessing the risk maturity and culture of a business
  • Experience with Behaviour / Culture related root cause assessments
  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • Extensive skills in designing risk culture interventions that incorporate up to date psychology theory, contemporary technology, and on-the-job development
  • The ability to interpret and define culture measures and KPI’s to analyse the impact of culture program of work
  • An advanced ability to think critically, analytically, and strategically
