Hollywood had a golden age of bank heist movies - bank robberies with the criminals trying to leave carrying big sacks of cash - but these days the larger threat to banks is through information security and cyber crime. It's why Information Security at the bank is critical to safeguarding us and our customers.
It's not a job we take lightly. We focus on multiple dimensions of cyber security - people, process and technology - to keep our customers and the rest of the bank safe. We work with leading-edge partners, such as Proofpoint, CyberArk, AWS, Splunk, and Verizon to ensure state-of-the-art protection for the bank.
We do things differently at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, because we started differently. We're the only major bank in Australia to not have our headquarters in a capital city. We were born out of community, for community. We've always dared to be different and not lose sight of who we are.

In the two years or so that I've been with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, I've been able to make a real impact through my work. I've consulted on InfoSec for major Business and Technology projects, helped drive compliance across the organisation, and had the honour of representing the bank and industry seminars and forums.
Working in such a supportive environment has given me the opportunity to grow and expand my skill sets, as well as providing me with flexible hours so that I can spend time with my 1932 Ford and 1969 Honda... and my family, of course.
I moved into the InfoSec team recently after having worked for the bank in branches, as well as in Products and Network Support teams. I love the supportive culture at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank and am really proud to work for a such a fantastic company. I particularly like our progressive Community Banking model, which positively impacts hundreds of Australian communities every year.
I love working in InfoSec - it's a dynamic, engaging and challenging field with exponential growth in opportunities. I love investigating and solving "puzzles" in a field that has real-life measurable impacts - and the people I work with are such great people too.
Cyber security is such a fast-changing field, so I'm constantly learning and applying new things in my work to make the bank's systems more secure. Working at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank gives me opportunities to work in areas I'm interested in, like identity management. My teammates are really supportive and fun to work with, and our manager believes in us and really goes above and beyond to ensure our wellbeing.
For me, my years working at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank across IT Operations, and more recently in Cyber Security, have allowed me to learn and grow continuously. I can see the impact I've had within the organisation, the team and our customers. My colleagues are great, and the passion our team has to deliver for the business is inspirational. Our culture really fosters a positive environment where self-driven growth can thrive.
