Shape the Future of Banking with Us

At Bendigo Bank, our vision is to be Australia's bank of choice. We are on a transformative journey, guided by our 2030 strategy, to build a future-ready bank that is digitally enabled and deeply connected to our customers and communities. We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to join us as an Associate Director in our Portfolio Funding team, playing a pivotal role in this exciting chapter of our story.

This isn't just a job; it's an opportunity to make a real impact, contributing directly to our strategic growth and reinforcing our purpose of feeding into the prosperity of our customers and communities, not off them.

About the Opportunity

As an Associate Director, Portfolio Funding, you will be a key driver of growth within our Major Client Group. You will be at the forefront of identifying, developing, and managing our portfolio of third-party originated debt. This specialised role places you at the heart of our strategy to fund a diverse portfolio of loan receivables, enabling us to support a wider range of customers and asset classes.

Your work will directly contribute to our success by:

  • Driving Business Growth: Proactively identifying and pursuing new funding opportunities with both new and existing ADI and NBFI clients. You will prepare and present compelling proposals that lead to new customer acquisition and long-term, valuable partnerships.
  • Building Strategic Relationships: Acting as the primary contact for our valued customers, you will nurture strong, collaborative relationships built on trust and a deep understanding of their needs.
  • Expert Risk Management: Conducting in-depth risk assessments of new and existing debt portfolios. You will be our expert eye, ensuring all credit and operational risks are identified, mitigated, and monitored to protect the Bank and our customers.
  • Structuring Complex Transactions: Preparing detailed credit assessments and working with internal and external legal teams to structure, negotiate, and execute complex funding transactions that are commercially sound and compliant.
  • Collaborating for Success: Working closely with a wide range of internal stakeholders across Credit Risk, Legal, and the wider Major Client Group to deliver seamless and market-leading solutions.

What You Will Bring to the Role

We are looking for a forward-thinking professional based in Adelaide, Bendigo or Melbourne with a proven track record in a similar environment. Your ability to think commercially, challenge the status quo, and move fast to help customers will be key to your success.

Essential Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Investment Banking, Structured Finance, Business Development, or a related Corporate/Business Banking role.
  • Proven experience in dealing with ADIs, NBFIs, ASX-listed entities, or large corporates.
  • Strong experience in the origination, structuring, and management of securitisation or structured finance transactions is highly desirable.
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct detailed risk assessments of debt portfolios and counterparties.

Your Skills & Capabilities:

  • Advanced Communication & Influence: You can articulate complex concepts and influence decision-making at an executive level.
  • Exceptional Analytical Skills: You possess a strong understanding of financial maths and modelling, with the ability to perform in-depth financial analysis and loss modelling.
  • Strategic & Commercial Mindset: You can identify customer needs and risk issues, recommending innovative and effective structural solutions.
  • Leadership & Drive: A motivated self-starter who thrives on challenge, takes initiative, and can work independently to achieve outstanding results.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Law, or a similar discipline are essential. Postgraduate qualifications are highly regarded.
