“It begins at Bendigo Bank”

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the team

Ready to be at the forefront of climate action? Our Investor Relations & ESG team is the driving force behind the Bank's climate plans, including our BEN 1.5oC and Transition Plans. The team tackles sustainability-related risks and seizes opportunities, making sure we bring our Sustainability Approach to life while meeting stakeholder expectations. As our Climate Action Specialist, you'll report to the Head of ESG & Sustainability and be a key player in this dynamic team.

About the role

As our Climate Action Specialist, you'll be instrumental in bringing our climate approach to life. You'll take the lead in implementing our BEN 1.5oC Plan and guiding our divisions in creating and executing the Bank’s Transition Plans for Agriculture, Residential Mortgages, and Commercial Real Estate. You'll also keep a close eye on our progress, ensuring we meet our commitments.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Fronting our internal climate-related reporting and leading the BEN 1.5oC Delivery Group.
  • Providing strategic direction for our emissions calculations, covering everything from our daily operations to our financed emissions.
  • Coordinating our climate-related information for investor assessments.
  • Ensuring our BEN 1.5oC Plan and Transition Plans are being implemented in our business.
  • Managing exciting climate projects as outlined in our BEN 1.5oC Plan and Transition Plans.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity at one of our corporate offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, or Bendigo. We believe in putting our people first, which is why we offer flexible, hybrid work options with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week.

About you

We're looking for a passionate go-getter with:

  • A degree in a relevant field like Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Commerce, Law, or Public Policy.
  • A proven track record of managing or integrating climate risk in large organizations (banking experience is a plus!).
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve amazing results.
  • A keen eye for detail and a natural curiosity.
  • Exceptional skills in building and managing relationships at all levels to ensure strong governance and accountability.
  • The ability to provide detailed data-driven insights and recommend appropriate communication plans as a result of these insights.
  • The ability to juggle multiple projects at once and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

So, why work with us?

You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:

  • Looking for hybrid work, flexible hours, or a compressed week? Our flexible work options are designed to fit your lifestyle.
  • Health and well-being support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members.
  • Take your learning to the next level through opportunities like our corporate university ‘BEN U’ or at an external provider of your choice.

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.
