We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

Bendigo Bank exists to feed into the prosperity of our customers and community. We know that as a bank we will only be successful if we focus first on the success of our customers, our people, communities, partners, suppliers, and shareholders.

Our People and Culture division’s purpose is ‘Together we do great things every day to enrich the employee experience.’ Due to an internal promotion we’re looking for a highly experienced and adaptable Senior HR Business Partner to join us within the People Strategy and Capability team for a 6-month fixed term contract. You’ll be working collaboratively with a team of dedicated HR professionals who are passionate about creating a thriving and supportive workplace.

As a Senior HR Business Partner, you’ll be a trusted advisor to senior leaders and executives, providing strategic guidance and support on all people initiatives. You'll be involved in everything from workforce planning, organisational capability and succession planning to guiding the People and Culture program and lifecycle.

This is a fast-paced role that requires someone who can hit the ground running and leverage their experience to make a real difference. Ideally, you'll have experience in a complex, matrixed organization, allowing you to navigate multiple stakeholders effectively. We need someone who can quickly grasp the complexities of our business and use their expertise to add value.

The portfolio is Business Bank and Agribusiness, which bring together a range of financial solutions for emerging, small and medium enterprises, including major clients, specialised business solutions and Agribusiness customers nationwide. Previous experience providing Senior HR Business Partner support in either of these areas is highly advantageous, however not required.

This role can be based in Adelaide, Bendigo, Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney. We offer flexible work options that put our people first, and a hybrid model with a minimum requirement of 60% of your time per week in the office.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management or a related discipline are desirable, but extensive experience is equally valued
  • Significant demonstrated experience in a senior HR Business Partner role, preferably within a complex, matrixed organisation
  • Strong technical HR capability and experience in strategic HR practices
  • Strong understanding of HR policies and processes
  • Proven ability to work strategically with senior leaders and executives
  • Demonstrated success in delivering talent opportunities and addressing talent challenges
  • Capability to constructively challenge
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills

So, why work with us?

  • Want big impact that matters? Here, you’ll know your work directly benefits the customers and communities we all serve.
  • Want to be more than just a number? Join a team that truly values you – and that gets more and more diverse every day.
  • Want career opportunity AND flexibility? Achieve both here, where we know that balance and progression go hand in hand.

You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:

    • Hybrid work? Flexible hours? A compressed work week? Our flexible work options are designed to suit your life.
    • Health and wellbeing support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members.

We’re making better, bigger. And we’ll get there with you.
