“It begins at Bendigo Bank”

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the opportunity

Embed scalable processes and shape the engineering strategy to support our Core platforms and shape the future of our technical landscape by developing and executing a comprehensive cloud platform strategy across AWS and GCP.

You will get the opportunity to work with the newest technologies, mentor others whilst also having access to learning and development platforms plus the opportunity to get certified in cloud technologies.

Our community is a place to thrive in if you enjoy working in a changing environment and thinking of creative solutions.

In this role you’ll get to…

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams of platform and infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the modernisation of our core infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and secure to handle high-volume traffic and data processing.
  • Champion best practices by establishing a Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and drive the adoption of automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of our critical systems, including cloud platforms, container orchestration with Kubernetes, databases, and secure networks.
  • Collaborate closely with product development, security, and other departments to ensure our platform meets the needs of the entire organisation.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a senior technology role, with a proven ability to lead, grow, and mentor high-performing engineering teams in a scaled agile environment.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with public cloud platforms (such as AWS and/or GCP) and an understanding of core services such as storage and networking.
  • A strong background in modern engineering practices, including Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • A solid grasp of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and experience with modern observability platforms (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, Prometheus).
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant technical field such as Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
