We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

We're a organisation embarking on a bold transformation of our Credit and Market Risk function and shift in how we operate, and we are looking for a curious, forward-thinking leader to be at the heart of it.

This is your opportunity to shape the future of credit risk at Bendigo Bank.

About the Role and Team

As our Head of Credit Portfolio Analytics & Insights, you won’t just be managing a team; you’ll be a pivotal leader in our evolution. You will drive the Bank’s credit risk strategy and modernisation initiatives, blending advanced data science, automation, and AI with strategic leadership.

This is a senior leadership role critical to achieving our ambition to operate at an 'Advanced IRB Bank' level. You will be instrumental in uplifting our capability, by influencing everything we do — from our data-driven decision-making to our interactions with regulators.

You will lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement. By collaborating with senior leaders across our divisions, you will ensure your team's insights provide effective oversight and challenge, strengthen relationships, and deliver strategic outcomes that contribute to the Bank's enduring success.

This is a permanent position based out of our Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide or Sydney offices.

We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader and that balances connection and collaboration with the rhythm that works for you.

What you’ll bring to the role

To succeed in this pivotal role, you are a leader who is driven by curiosity and knows what 'good' looks like in a modern risk function. We are looking for:

  • A deep-seated curiosity and proven experience in identifying, adopting, and implementing innovative data and analytics approaches to deliver strategic objectives.
  • Expertise in Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing or related areas, with a focus on building and enhancing capability.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a Credit Risk team in a reputable financial organisation.
  • Superior knowledge of credit risk management strategies and techniques, including emerging best practices.
  • Highly effective engagement skills, with the ability to lead and drive change at a Divisional level and foster stronger relationships with key stakeholders.
  • A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to ignite potential, elevate performance, and deliver a compelling vision that challenges the status quo.
  • The ability to synthesise expert knowledge of bank policies, regulatory guidelines, and market changes to build Credit Risk capability across the Bank.

So, why work for us?

Want big impact that matters? Here, you’ll know your work directly benefits the customers and communities we all serve.

You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:

  • Flexibility means different things for different people. Whether it’s hybrid work, flexible hours, a compressed work week, job-sharing or something different, our flexible work options are designed to put people first
  • Health and wellbeing support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members
  • Opportunities to take your learning to the next level through our corporate university ‘BEN U’ or at an external provider of your choice

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.
