Group Internal Audit (GIA) plays an important role in Bendigo Bank’s vision to be Australia’s leading customer connected banking group.  An enterprise-wide function GIA teams are split between Financial Risk and Non-Financial Risk, but support work across both teams as required.

 

The key objectives for the Head of Non-Financial Risk, Internal Audit are:

  • As a senior leader within the GIA function, contribute to the overall planning and development of GIA function’s goals and strategies and their achievement.
  • Together with the GM, GIA, represent GIA at both Board and Management Committees (notably the Board Audit Committee, Board Risk Committee, Operational Risk Committee, and various other management committees). 
  • Direct the provision of assurance across the Group relating to the non-financial risk classes (principally operational risk [including financial crime], technology risk, and strategic risk) focusing on the effectiveness of the observed control environment.
  • Direct reviews relating to the non-financial risk classes to provide effective assurance reporting and completion of reporting within required timeframes.
  • Manage direct reports and lead staff

This is a permanent full-time position based out of Melbourne, Adelaide, Bendigo or Sydney corporate Offices.

What you’ll bring to the role

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Demonstrated risk management/internal audit experience (greater than 10 years) gained through audit, risk management or consultancy exposure.
  • Ability to think broadly and “outside the square” such that issues are effectively addressed while promoting continuous improvement both within the function and in the business 
  • Proven ability to lead a team to deliver against challenging deadlines, and develop / mentor other team members 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification and memberships
  • Extensive experience in non-financial risk management and internal audit management roles within the financial services industry with exposure to several non-financial risk specialist areas as detailed below:
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Financial Crime
  • Service Provider / Third Party
  • Transformation
  • Conduct
  • Data
  • Technology, Cyber, Information Security
