Position Description: Download File Operational Excellence Analyst PD (1).docx

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

Are you excited by the idea of using analytics, AI and predictive modelling to drive operational excellence at scale?

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

If you love diving into data to uncover stories, patterns, and opportunities, this role will feel like home. As an Operational Excellence Analyst, you’ll be the person leaders turn to when they need clarity—whether that’s understanding workforce capacity, identifying efficiency opportunities, or modelling different scenarios to help them make confident decisions. You’ll get to work across multiple teams and business units, giving you a rare, big-picture view of how the bank operates.

You won’t just be analysing numbers, you’ll be shaping the way we work. From predicting workload demands to spotting productivity trends and uncovering where we can save time, cost, or effort, you’ll have a direct hand in helping us deliver better experiences for customers and employees. Your insights will guide everything from daily staffing decisions to long-term planning, and you’ll be trusted to challenge assumptions, simplify complexity, and highlight what really matters.

This is a role for someone who’s curious, commercially minded and thrives in fast-moving environments. You’ll experiment with new tools and techniques, bring fresh ideas, and look for ways to make our processes smarter. And as part of a supportive and forward-thinking team, you’ll collaborate, learn, and build strong relationships with people all over the bank—while making a measurable impact on how we operate every day.

Key responsibilities:

  • Analyse complex datasets and build meaningful insights that help leaders understand capacity, performance, workforce trends, and opportunities to improve efficiency across the bank.
  • Develop predictive models, scenarios and reporting using tools like Power BI, Excel and SQL to support smarter decision-making—from daily operational planning to long-term workforce strategy.
  • Identify and recommend improvement opportunities by monitoring productivity, highlighting variance drivers, challenging current processes, and partnering with business units to deliver more streamlined, cost-effective ways of working.

To succeed in this role, we’d love you to have:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI expertise (including DAX and Power Query) with the ability to create dashboards and visualisations that influence decisions.
  • Experience with SQL and/or data modelling to extract, transform, and manipulate large datasets efficiently.
  • Understanding of workforce planning, forecasting, or capacity management and exposure to operational metrics (desirable, not essential).
  • Curiosity, resilience, and a growth mindset—someone who embraces change, challenges the status quo, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

We offer flexible work options that put our people first and a hybrid model of minimum 60% on site attendance in a local Head Office.

This role is a Full-time (76 hours per f/n) role on a 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract based at any of our head office locations (see locations here)
