About Us

At Bendigo Bank, we are more than just a bank. We are a community of passionate individuals dedicated to making a real difference for our customers, communities, shareholders, and each other. Our 2030 growth strategy is ambitious, and we’re building a culture we can be proud of to help us get there. We are driven by our values to 'find the right way', 'own it', and be 'better together'. If you are looking for a career where you can have a bigger impact every day, we invite you to join us.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly specialised and analytical Senior Manager to join our Group Risk division. This pivotal role focuses on the unique and complex credit landscape of Banks and Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs). As a subject matter expert, you will be responsible for shaping the Bank's policies and practices in Bank Counterparty Risk, Portfolio Funding, and Margin Lending.

This is a unique opportunity to apply your deep technical expertise to minimise risk and drive sustainable growth, contributing directly to the Bank’s enduring success and strategic goals.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Drive Specialised Credit Decisions: Exercise your significant Delegated Lending Authority (DLA) to assess and decide on complex counterparty risk and lending proposals for Bank and NBFI clients.
  • Shape Strategic Policy: Lead the development and execution of the Bank’s credit policies for specialised sectors, including counterparty risk, portfolio funding, and margin lending.
  • Provide Expert Oversight: Conduct due diligence on lending programs and potential portfolio acquisitions, providing critical credit risk input into deal structuring and documentation.
  • Manage Portfolio Risk: Proactively monitor portfolio performance, risk concentrations, and counterparty exposures to ensure they align with the Bank's approved risk profile.
  • Collaborate and Influence: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across the Bank, including the Major Client Group and Treasury, building strong relationships and driving change.
  • Uphold Our Values: Consistently demonstrate our core values and critical behaviours: act commercially, move fast to help customers, recognise people for their impact, and actively challenge the status quo.

To Succeed, What You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience exercising a significant Delegated Lending Authority for complex credit proposals within the Bank and NBFI sectors, OR experience at a ratings agency covering RMBS, CMBS, or ABS issuance.
  • Deep expertise in loan warehouses, whole loan sales, and other products common to this market segment. Syndications, Institutional Banking or Debt Capital Markets experience will be highly regarded.
  • Strong knowledge of the regulatory environment, including APRA prudential standards (APS 120, 220, 221).
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills.
  • Highly effective communication and influencing skills, with experience presenting to senior executives and external counterparties.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification is essential; postgraduate qualifications are highly desirable.
