“It begins at Bendigo Bank”

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the role

This is a pivotal opportunity to go beyond traditional oversight and take ownership of our Group's Conduct Risk framework. More than just a policy-holder, you will be a trusted advisor to our most senior leaders, using your expertise to influence key decisions and shape our approach to risk across the entire organisation.

If you are a seasoned risk professional with a passion for driving meaningful change and the credibility to influence at an executive level, this is your chance to play a crucial leadership role in our journey.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Own the Framework: Take full ownership of the design, implementation, and ongoing effectiveness of the Group's Conduct Risk Policy, ensuring it is embedded and effective across all business divisions.
  • Act as a Strategic Advisor: Serve as the key subject matter expert on conduct risk, providing critical insights and influential advice to senior management committees and key governance forums.
  • Drive Data-Led Insights: Develop and manage sophisticated risk reporting, including data stewardship for our conduct risk appetite and key risk indicators, to ensure accurate and actionable intelligence.
  • Lead with Influence: Proactively identify and lead targeted deep-dive reviews. Although you won't have direct reports, you will be a core leader within the team, mentoring junior members and spearheading initiatives to uplift culture and capability.
  • Collaborate for Success: Work closely with a wide range of senior stakeholders across all three Lines of Accountability to ensure a cohesive and robust approach to managing conduct risk.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity, ideally located at our Melbourne office, but we are open to Sydney, or Adelaide for the right person. We believe in putting our people first, which is why we offer flexible, hybrid work options with a minimum of 3 days in the office per week.

About you

We're looking for a passionate go-getter with:

  • Experience in the Banking and Finance sector, bringing a strong background in Conduct Risk, non-financial risk, and compliance frameworks.
  • Proven ability to operate and influence at the most senior levels, with exceptional stakeholder management skills and experience partnering strategically with Executive and Senior Management.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing and implementing practical risk frameworks and leading large-scale projects or change programs from a strategic and practical standpoint.
  • A strategic and critical thinker with outstanding problem-solving skills, who thrives in a complex and agile environment, effectively managing competing priorities and driving continuous improvement.

So, why work with us?

You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:

  • Looking for hybrid work, flexible hours, or a compressed week? Our flexible work options are designed to fit your lifestyle.
  • Health and well-being support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members.
  • Take your learning to the next level through opportunities like our corporate university ‘BEN U’ or at an external provider of your choice.

We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.
