“It begins at Bendigo Bank”

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

About the opportunity

The Technical Product Owner is responsible for maximising the value delivered by a cross-functional squad, ensuring alignment between customer needs, business goals, and the squad's work. You will serve as the squad's single voice of intent—owning the problem space, shaping the product backlog, and enabling the squad to make smart delivery decisions.

You will work closely with other product managers, designers, engineers, and stakeholders to deeply understand customer journeys and ensure that what gets built is valuable, feasible, and usable. As a Technical Product Owner at Bendigo Bank, you will prioritise innovation, collaboration, clarity, and empowered decision-making, balancing discovery with delivery, short-term iteration with long-term value creation, and squad-level execution with strategic alignment.

In this role you’ll get to…

  • Define and communicate a clear technology vision and strategy for your squad.
  • Develop and maintain a product roadmap that enables innovative, rapid, composable outcomes.
  • Own and continuously refine the squad's product backlog, ensuring items are prioritised and well-articulated.
  • Translate product strategy into actionable squad-level priorities that deliver customer and business value.
  • Empower your squad by providing clarity, context, and day-to-day decision-making support.
  • Champion customer-centric problem solving, using research, data, and direct feedback to guide development.

What you’ll bring to the role

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Delivery Lead, Business Analyst, or similar role in a cross-functional product team.
  • A strong understanding of modern product development practices, including agile, lean, and human-centred design.
  • Proven ability to manage a product backlog and deliver outcomes using iterative, agile methods.
  • Engineering experience in major cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS).
  • Experienced in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and Containerisation.
  • Knowledge of database technologies such as RDS and MongoDB Atlas is highly desirable.

So, why work with us?

  • Want big impact that matters? Here, you’ll know your work directly benefits the customers and communities we all serve.
  • Want to be more than just a number? Join a team that truly values you – and that gets more and more diverse every day.

Our flexible work options are designed to suit your life.  We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team.  We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.
  • Health and well-being support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members.
  • Take your learning to the next level through opportunities like our corporate university ‘BEN U’ or at an external provider of your choice.

We’re making better, bigger. And we’ll get there with you
