pymetrics online assessments - what are they and why should I do them?

We know that finding the right job can be challenging and is about more than just ticking boxes on a resume. You're more than your resume and sometimes it can be hard to stand out when applying for jobs.

That's why we use pymetrics, a platform that uses neuroscience and artificial intelligence to assess your potential and fit for a particular role. pymetrics helps remove biases from the hiring process too, helping us build a more diverse and inclusive team - something we're really passionate about. The traits measured with pymetrics are evenly distributed across gender, race and socioeconomic status, and there are accommodations available for people that need them.

By using scientifically-validated games and tasks, pymetrics helps us evaluate your cognitive, social, and emotional traits and matches them to the role based on the attributes our successful employees have - which means that there's no right or wrong way to play the games, it's all about fit!

Pymetrics FAQs

pymetrics is an organization that helps companies and individuals determine which attributes make them successful. To do this, they assess cognitive and emotional attributes using a series of gamified exercises. These games are engaging and fun, developed through years of neuroscience and neuropsychology research.
Attributes assessed within the games include memory, attention and planning, perseverance, and risk tolerance – they do not include any measure of IQ. The pymetrics games will allow us to identify which attributes are most essential to a given role within our organization.

At Bendigo and Adelaide Bank we pride ourselves on using fair and objective methods of evaluating our candidates. Every year we receive thousands of applications, so to assist us in giving all applicants an equitable chance of success, we use objective assessments to help us through this process. The benefit for you is that we are evaluating your suitability to join Bendigo and Adelaide Bank based on the attributes our successful employees exhibit, whilst also receiving immediate feedback on your assessment results.

When you complete the assessment, we compare your results to those of our current employees, and this gives us a sense of how likely you are to be successful at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank. For us it’s all about fit & allows us to get to know you a bit more beyond what you’ve submitted in your application and resume. Once you complete the pymetrics games we'll contact you with the next steps for the recruitment process.

The pymetrics assessment evaluates a collection of cognitive, social, and emotional attributes which are inherent to an individual and descriptive of how they learn, process information, and react to interpersonal situations involving trust, altruism, and fairness. The games utilized by pymetrics have been used in the fields of neuroscience and cognitive psychology for the last 2-3 decades and so are very well researched and validated as measures of the traits we assess.
We have also identified the attributes that are important for success in our employees, by having current employees complete these games themselves. This means that there is a model that has been created specifically for the role you are applying to. Because each role has a unique profile of attributes within our profile, your gameplay might not evaluate you as a great fit for Job A but your same gameplay could mean you are a great fit for Job B. There are no universal good attributes or bad ones, or right way to play the games or wrong way. It is all about fit!
